Our founding fathers believed that minding our own affairs should not only take precedent over foreign affairs but should take second and third place on our plates as well. Sticking your noses in other peoples business is a good way to get a bloody nose after all. The world is a much different place now, smaller figuratively speaking. This change must be accounted for when remembering our old values. Despite that consideration of that change, it should not alter our old values completely.

The conflict between Georgia and Russia was tragic, but it’s time officials in Washington stopped treating the Treasury Department like an ATM for the world. – Bob Barr

Compassion – noun- a deep awareness of and sympathy for another’s suffering
The truth is, even tho Europeans love to say other wise, Americans are very compassionate people. We as a society love to give to those in need and this should never change. However, it is not for the government to decide for us how much and where our money is given. If you desire to help rebuilding efforts in Georgia or any other country in need -Please- do so. There are countless organizations

around the world, some more trustworthy than other, which you can do this through. Our government has no business to take our taxes and spend them on other people. I am sure there are countless area’s in our society that can benefit from that money, and if not then our pockets can.

They cannot afford to pay the price for other people’s wars… – Bob Barr

Perspective – noun – The relationship of aspects of a subject to each other and to a whole

When put into perspective the United States of America has more than enough issues to tangle up its own time and finacial power. If a second party bombs a third party’s roads, why would the first party pay for their repairs when it has road issues of its own? Our government needs to remember who elected them (You!) and who they are here to serve (You!).

…it is time to start saying no more. No more international welfare clients. No more foreign governments treating America as a cash cow. We need to put our own fiscal house in order rather than constantly bail out irresponsible governments around the world – Bob Barr

Understand – verb – to perceive the meaning of; grasp the idea of; comprehend

This quote sums it up quite nicely. Our job is to elect people who understand their job is to server our nation.

An Anarchist with a job is my favorite description of a Libertarian offered by the masses. While not entirely accurate, it is creative and witty.

Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil. – Thomas Paine

The Libertarian Party is a party founded on the ideals that were first presented by our founding fathers, such as Thomas Paine. It is a government that is tame and works for the people, to ensure both their safety and their freedom. A perfect Libertarian government is a government kept to its smallest possible existence and is still able to provide the security needed to ensure a proper society.

Libertarians believe in the individual; they do not promote a cookie-cutter image of Americans. We value our personal freedoms and the freedom of our fellow Americans. The government exists to server its employer (the people of the United States of America), not serve as a world bank or police force outside the interests of those paying for it. Libertarians still believe in ‘Government of the people, by the people, for the people’.

Simply put a Libertarian believes – You elect the politicians therefore they serve you. They do not rule you, so you should be able to live your life, spend/save your money, as you please as long as you do not disrupt society. Their job is to ensure your freedom to do just that.
