Consumption Tax
Previously it was mentioned that income tax was a violation of our rights as Americans. There are two major systems which the Federal Government can use without violating those rights. Lump sum tax is a popular choice among economist, it is ‘fair’, it does not discriminate if your rich you pay x dollars: if your poor you pay x dollars. We will not discuss this tax here though, as while not necessary a Libertarian preference, Consumption Tax is a person preference on this blog.

Consumption tax is quite similar to today’s sale tax. Rather than government receiving taxes from income and property, both of which are violations, they receive money through the purchase of goods and services. What is the difference you might ask? It is quite simple if you are taxed before you get the money it is a non-profit, as you can not reinvest it. If you are taxed after you spend it then you had the money in hand to choose what to do with it. The income tax system we use today allows rich people to save, but prohibits most middle class and poor peoples from doing so. A Consumption tax would increase the ability of everyone to save, invest, prepare for the future.

The basics of it are quite simple. Inferior products (hotdogs and mac and cheese for those who have not taken economics) have a low tax on them to help the poor people who would normally purchase these items. Superior products (Steak and shrimp) would have a medium tax on them as most people will purchase them. Luxury products (cigarettes and alcohol) will have a high tax on them (as they |
already do). Same process for all goods and services, which in the end means the government still gets the money it needs to do it’s job and serve us.
Over all the government can still control about how much money they get and the poor are still ‘sheltered’ as we like to do in this country. The best part of it is that with this tax system the government gets smaller as we no longer have use for the IRS. The only people who really lose out are tax accountants, which will have to learn another discipline in their field to find new work.

The Elephant and Donkey Show
| Wait! Isn’t it suppose to be the Dog and Pony Show?
Our ‘democratic’ system is not even a shell of it’s former self. The conventions are nothing more than a circus meant to entertain the Hollywood coma induced masses. The grand spectacle always starts with some big opening and ends with red, white, and blue conffeti and balloon. This is in itself is not the worse of it. A celebration is in no-way a terrible thing. The problems comes with the mystery of a non-mysterious event. You got selected now pat yourself on the back and move on. |

In an attempt to create suspense and interest, in an other wise glorified tooting of ones horn, Obama must keep secret his choice for Vice President. “Wouldn’t you like to know?” says Obama trying to increase the suspense and interest of the Democrat convention. To be honest this is one person who does not really care to know. It is obvious what the Democrats stand for regardless and wont sway my opinion one way or another. However! An attempt to play on the very popular drama entertainment industry candidates (not just Obama) feel the need to play games. Running our nation is not a game, it is not a late night drama, it is a serious job meant to be taken seriously.
This blog will never attack people for their beliefs, it is well understood that no two Americans are exactly a like. We must respect our differences and live in harmony. To take the most important job in America, and in the world today, so lightly proves that our government really thinks that we are sheep for them to lead. It is shameful and unacceptable. The Government is there to work for us not take advantage of us; someday in the near future I hope we remind them of this.

The Ninth Amendment

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. – the Ninth Amendment
Today we do not command the same mastery of the English language (Thanks Teddy) as our founding fathers once used. Proof of this is the inability for most people to understand the Ninth Amendment, and the ability of the government to bypass it at any point it desires. The shear complexity of the wording makes it impossible for the average person to understand the simplicity of its meaning.
Lets go over the words which may be seen as difficult:
- Enumeration – verb- The act of specifying in a list. : This word is talking about the creation of the constitution.
Construed – verb- to give the meaning or intention of; explain; interpret. : This is saying the government should not spin words to make it say what they wish it to say.
Disparage – verb- to speak of or treat slightingly; depreciate; belittle. : Your rights are important and in no way are they to be reduced.

In the simplest terms imaginable by this author the Ninth Amendment says; The rights of the American people before the forming of an American government are reserved and safe after the creation of said American government. Our liberties were to be protected and government was to be kept small. The very existence of today’s American government goes against the Bill of Rights. Everything from the infamous wire tapping to the collecting of income taxes is in-fact a violation of our rights as Americans. The founding fathers put this amendment in to try and ensure that ‘big government’ never exists. |
Unfortunately the very father of big government, Theodore Roosevelt, simplified the American language. Yes, his major doing was in the writing of certain words, but his changes included encouraging all forms of writing and entertainment to use a form of English even the uneducated could understand. This has lead us to the current state of the English language in America. In the process the government, starting with Teddy’s interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine, used this down-spiral in the English language to redefine our founding fathers great works to their own (power grabbing) liking. The Ninth amendment has suffered from this the most, but is not the only important foundation of American Liberty’s to be violated.
You are hereby encouraged to explore the very unAmerican ideals that have been fueling the power grab by our Federal government. Our founding fathers did not intend for their son’s and daughter’s to be leading America on a path which they sought to fight against.
